Testimonials
"We are so happy to have found James as our child’s piano teacher! He has been absolutely terrific with our neurodiverse child. Through his patience and understanding, he has not only fostered a love of music but also helped to coach through performance anxiety and connected in a way that has built up resiliency which has extended beyond the keyboard.
He has been a delight to work with and be it drums, piano, or guitar, we recommend him without hesitation to any families with young aspiring musicians of their own!"

"When I was 11 years old, I stumbled into my first lesson with James with a guitar I had no idea how to play. After the first lesson, I couldn't wait to go back and learn more. I'm now 21 and live in Nashville writing, recording, and performing music around the city and it's all thanks to James. Whether you've played guitar before or have never picked one up, James is the perfect teacher for you. He's an experienced musician in the real-world music scene and a kind, patient, and organized instructor. He's the guy that can teach you that song you've always wanted to play on the guitar!"

"James is such a fine music teacher, endlessly patient and encouraging. He is laid back and funny. Even though he can play rings around me, he never makes me feel small, and he seems always to know just what to tell me or show me to keep me striving to improve.
A seasoned performer, he is familiar with many genres: rock, country, jazz, folk, bluegrass, probably others I don’t know about. Sometimes my lesson feels more like a jam session. I always come home after my lesson motivated to practice, so James can help me get to the next level…
If you hire James to help you step up your music, I predict you will be glad you did."

“Working with James for the past couple of years has been very impactful for my guitar playing. I came to him as a self-taught player with bad habits and a lack of music theory understanding. James has helped me not only correct those issues but also develop an understanding of the music. His teaching method is fun. He engages you by teaching songs you choose and are interested in, and then integrates essential fundamentals and theory into the learning process. This approach has made my progress both rapid and enjoyable. If you're serious about improving your guitar skills, I would highly recommend you work with James.”

"James has been teaching my 8 year old piano for the last year and a half. He has been an amazing person to introduce my child to music and music theory. He finds ways to get the student to personally engage with the music by not only teaching the important basics but by teaching music they are interested in as well. He is a patient, kind, and immensely talented instructor. I would, and do recommend him to anyone looking to learn an instrument or further develop their skills."

"My daughter and I have both been taking lessons with James for over a year, and it's been great. James is very good at balancing the learning of fundamentals/theory with the fun of playing the kind of music we enjoy listening to, and tailoring it according to age and experience. Our lessons have added a spirit of musicality to our household for which I am extremely grateful, and I heartily recommend James as a teacher to anyone eager to learn how to play."
